100,000s Americans Displaced, But We're Having Fun!

While New Orleans was drowning, Nero Bush fiddled away in California. Way to go Shrub, worst natural disaster in American history, and you're busy at a ho-down! Yeeee-ha!

AP Caption: President Bush plays a guitar presented to him by Country Singer Mark Wills, right, backstage following his visit to Naval Base Coronado, Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005. Bush visited the base to deliver remarks on V-J Commemoration Day.

While we're at it, I hope this page soon becomes the primary link on Google when you do a "where's Bush" search.

Okay, but...

I'm happy to report that my one friend and her family in the New Orleans area are okay. Sadly, their home is destroyed, as is much of their hometown: Slidell, LA. I don't know if this is actually their neighborhood or not--the picture is in fact from Slidell via the AP--but I think it's safe to assume that their house probably looks about the same.

I haven't actually spoken to her, but I did speak with her dad, and he informed me that all they managed to get away with was the car they left in and four days worth of clothing.

Edit to add (11:40 AM): Okay, all of Slidell doesn't look that bad, but from the footage on, it's obvious that very little survived completely intact. (Would link to CNN video clip if I knew how to handcode a javascript link.)
