Moose With Mug

  • 08:45 Still amused at the boys comment earlier this morning during his favorite part of XTC's "Dear God": "They're playing the drums so hard!" #
  • 08:47 Annoyed that Twitter doesn't provide an easy way to fix typos in posts. I typically have to edit an LJ post 2-3 times after posting. #

The Uncontainable Cuteness of Tank

I wrote the following exactly one year ago, today:

It's hard to imagine that there's anything more adorable than watching your four-year-old son sing along with Elton John while he's doing "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" on The Muppet Show.

Turns out there is something more adorable:

Via the rear view mirror of your car, watching your five-year-old son air drum his way through both Red Hot Chili Pepper's "Higher Ground" and XTC's "Dear God."

Yes, it really is that damn cute.

Washington, DC: Third Best Bargain City!?

As a long-time resident of the area, let me gladly point out that Forbes magazine is absolutely, totally and without any question full of shit when they rated the Washington, DC metro area the third best bargain city in the country. Apparently, their flawed methodology rates rate of employment and average salary as more important than the actual cost of living and "housing opportunity." My salary is actually well above the national median income, but by my best guess it's probably only an average salary around here (at best) and the cost of living -- especially housing -- more than strips away any benefit I might get from my salary.

Next time Forbes decides to make some sort of list like this, they might do well to survey those people who aren't in their target audience. Then again, given the state of financial reporting over the past five years, maybe this type of "reporting" should be expected.
