I'm hoping to write a substantive post tonight, but no promises about that. However, a couple quick thoughts from checking the news this morning:
- I don't know why since I was never a fan, but I am sad to hear about the death of Patrick Swayze. I think a viewing of Road House, complete with the Rifftrax, is in order.
- The Phillies are now seven games up with 20 left to play. In my adult life, this sort of thing has never happened -- not even in 1993. I truly don't know how to react to such a situation.
- This bullshit with playing "God Bless America" during the 7th inning stretch needs to stop. Patriotic neanderthals keep insisting that people treat it like it was the national anthem, and worse still, people are repeatedly getting removed from stadiums for not doing so -- though they are doing nothing wrong. No other major sport today interrupts a game to play a patriotic song, and doing so is an unnecessary holdover from 9/11.
