Moose With Mug

The Fightins

It's six hours later, and I still can't believe what I saw last night. The Phillies I grew up with and stayed loyal to through years of misery have been replaced by this amazingly awesome team I don't recognize. They're wearing Phillies uniforms, but they're winning the type of games that the Phillies have very rarely done (last year's amazing postseason didn't feature two games in which they came from behind to win when down to their last out). Now they are just one win away from their first ever consecutive World Series appearances.

I know that the odds of the Dodgers coming back and winning three straight to take the NLCS are slim, but I'm having to fight really hard to keep the optimism in check. If the Dodgers do manage to do so, it won't be the worst thing in the world because nothing will ever match what happened in Game 4 and Game 6 of the '93 WS. So, in the spirit of what I wrote yesterday, I'm enjoying the hell out of what's happened thus far. The worst case scenario for this year: the Phillies gave me much more to cheer about this October than I have in all but a couple of the past 25+ years.
