Pot, Kettle Called and Wants to Talk to You

I just read the following from an article in Politico about the Democrats and "Dynasty Politics" and couldn't let it go without on brief comment:

“Democrats seem to lack a common man who can just win a good, old-fashioned election,” said Rep. Tom Reynolds (R-N.Y.), the former chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee. “They’ve got seat-warmers, seat-sellers and the making of pillows for the seats of royalty. No wonder the public wonders what’s going on in Washington.”

As opposed to the Republicans, who seemed to lack any common man who could just win an election in 2008. Oh, and just who was Obama by the way? I guess his roots growing up weren't "common" enough. Either that or the Presidential race wasn't a good, old-fashioned election like the one Bush won in 2000 thanks in part to a questionable Supreme Court ruling.

Snark aside, I think political dynasties are one of the most appalling aspects of our system, and the notion of Caroline Kennedy being appointed to Hillary's Senate seat despite no governing experience whatsoever (part of the impetus for the Politico article) is utterly disgraceful. However, for the Republicans to bitch about the Dems doing it when the Republican President for the past eight years was the third generation of his dynasty is a laughable hypocrisy writ large.
