For those of who unfamiliar with the joys of replacing toner cartridges for laser printers, most of them these days come with a "pre-paid" UPS shipping label you can use to send them back for recycling rather than sending them to the trash. Ideally, this is a win-win situation for everyone in terms of the environment. However, I discovered just now that if your company is not on an existing UPS pick-up route, you need to pay a $10 fee to schedule a pickup.
Now, I want to do the right thing and send the empties for recycling, but I don't have any authority to charge even that nominal amount to my company. So, I can either toss them or carry them myself to the nearest UPS drop-off point.
Being a good eco-friendly liberal, I'm strongly leaning toward carrying them myself, but that doesn't mean I'm very happy about it. I now understand why my predecessor tossed them.
