Just to briefly expand on a Twitter post from last week, Tank and I are perfectly okay after the car accident last week. Although it was basically a three-car fender bender, the accident was unfortunately my fault in its entirety as I allowed myself to become distracted by something happening away from the road. By the time I looked back at the road in front of me, all the traffic had come to a complete and sudden halt, and I just didn't have enough time to stop my car completely. While we were physically okay, Tank was understandably upset, and by the time the obligatory exchange of information took place, my nerves were completely on edge as well. I ended up taking the day off and staying home with Tank as I couldn't in good conscience just drop him off at pre-school so soon after what had happened.
Anyway, on Thursday I should have my car back from the shop. Because of past extremely bad luck, I was carrying rental insurance so at least I'm not paying for the car I'm currently driving -- at least, I'm not paying for it now. However, I do have a $200 deductible, and as I said, it was a three-car accident (I hit the car in front of me hard enough to bump it into the car ahead of it), so I'm assuming that I damaged each of the other cars about as much as I damaged my own. Ergo, it will be interesting to see how much my rates go up when renewal time rolls around.
Maybe one of these days I'll find a way to stop consistently digging myself into financial trouble.
