Resurrecting the Weekly Weigh-In

Until last Monday, it had been years since I stepped into a gym or onto any piece of exercise equipment. However, recent events made it clear that my rather lackadaisical attitude toward my weight and overall fitness could no longer continue. Thankfully, I 'm a veteran of taking off lots of weight, and I can easily count at least three different occasions where I lost 20 or more pounds. Unfortunately, that also means that I am really good at letting all the weight back on when I stop exercising and eating properly. Luckily, I have quite a bit of time to figure out how to address that problem before it finally arrives.

The goal I've set for myself is very attainable -- it's actually about 20 pounds higher than what the height-weight charts state is the highest I should weigh. However, the one time I did actually hit my "proper" weight, I looked emaciated. I'm built like an ox, and those charts don't apply to me. Just to be sure, however, when I get down to my goal I will get my body fat percentage properly calculated. If, in fact, I do need to lose more weight, then I will reassess my goal.

Anyway, given how carefully I have eased back into a gym routine, I'm more than pleased at the first week's results. I don't expect to continue at this pace, nor is it healthy to do so. In the meantime, I just need to continue with what I've done for the past seven days.
