Weekly Weigh-In

Gain/loss for the past week: -1.7 lbs.
Cumulative loss: 6.3
Lbs. away from goal: 3.7

This represents a happy circumstance that I don't think will repeat itself again. See, I allow myself one "bad" eating day per week. On that day, I pay very little attention to my caloric intake, and I allow myself some items that I don't typically consume -- the chief of these being double-stuffed Oreos (more specifically, their generic Target counterpart). This past week, my caloric consumption on my bad day was below my typical intake. Thus, my better than average weight loss.

What this week shows me more than anything is the worth of my bad eating day.  Knowing that I have one day each week where I can relax some of my self-imposed dietary restrictions makes it possible for me to stay within them for the rest of the week. Unless I go into full gluttony mode, it's nearly impossible for one day to completely undo my efforts (both dietary and exercise) from the rest of the week. Having said that, it is interesting to see how much more quickly I could take the weight off (in theory) if I didn't allow myself such days -- or was a little more circumspect in how much I loosened the dietary restrictions when they occur.
