Jim Bunning's 2003 Topps Fan Favorites, #143
By and large, I really like their Fan Favorites sets, which take previously unused photos from the Topps vault and place them in the design of a previous year to create "alternate" versions of older cards. In fact, I like them so much that I pick them up to place them alongside the cards from the corresponding year. This Bunning card makes use of the 1967 Topps design. However, there's a small problem: the Phillies didn't start using the road uniform he's wearing until 1970. Hence, this particular card looks a little out of place when placed with the other cards from 1967. The sad thing is that this problem was easily preventable, Topps just as easily could've used this picture with the 1970 or, more preferably, the 1971 design.
Even worse, Topps has made this mistake with other issues, most recently the 2005 Topps Fan Favorites John Kruk, which depicts him in the 1991 card design, but obviously wearing the road uniform the Phillies started using in 1992.
Then again, what do you expect from a company that showed Ryan no respect when choosing their All-Rookie team.
